HOW TO USE YOUR BLACKBERRY AS A MODEM

This works for only MTN and Airtel subscribers. Glo and Etisalat currently have their internet portals closed.

REQUIREMENTS
– A computer
– USB cable
– Blackberry with working BIS on Airtel or MTN
– Blackberry desktop software installed on your computer

The 1st thing to do is to subscribe to any blackberry plan of any of these networks (MTN & Airtel) because without this plan you can’t really browse the internet.

After downloading blackberry desktop software. if you don’t have one Click To Download Install it on your computer.
Connect your phone to the computer with a good USB cable. When your computer is connected. Follow these steps:

Tools -> Mobile Internet Connections -> Add New ->
FOR AIRTEL:
Username: Internet
Password: Internet
Access Point/APN: Internet.ng.zain.com
Additional Commands: (leave it blank)

FOR MTN:
Username: web
Password: web
Access point/APN: blackberry.net
Additional Commands: (leave it blank)

Then save after you have done the settings.

After you have saved, locate mobile internet at the buttom left of the desktop software. Click on it till it says connected.

When you do it for the 1st time a pop up windows will come telling you about additional charges. Just say ok and continue

Now do these settings for your blackberrry

Options > Device > Advanced System Settings > TCP/IP

1st you enable access point settings then you fill the following

FOR AIRTEL:
Username: Internet
Password: Internet
Access Point/APN: Internet.ng.zain.com

FOR MTN:
Username: web
Password: web
Access point/APN: blackberry.net
